Poring, Sabah |
Poring can be visited on a day trip out of Kota Kinabalu, though we recommend that
you combine Poring with a visit to Mount Kinabalu, to make a two or three day
mini-tour. You must have all accommodation and transport pre-booked (this can
only be done by a registered tour operator) and we will be happy to arrange
all this for you |

Poring is famous for its natural hot and cold springs. So popular have these become that there are now proper ceramic baths at the springhead where you can soothe away your aches and pains and a full size swimming pool with rock slides. There are even baths surrounded by small buildings where you can bathe individually if you are feeling shy. |
Many people make the trip as far as Sandakan and the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation
Centre on the far east coast of Sabah, but orang utans can also often be
seen at Poring. |
If you are interested in plants and orchids in particular, you can see many rare
species growing in a natural environment at the Orchid Preservation Centre at Poring. Paphiopedilium rothschildianum (right) and a tiny Bulbophyllum species (below) |
Poring is a very popular place for Sabahans to visit and accomodation is limited.
This is also being up-graded by the authorities and opposite is a typical
new style chalet. Accommodation must be booked well in advance of your visit. |
